Admission
TechCon Institute is open to all students, on a space-available basis. The school does
not discriminate on the basis of intellectual or athletic ability, measures of achievement
or aptitude, disability, proficiency in English, or any other basis prohibited by law.
There are not admissions requirements, and not tests of any sort are given to determine
whether or not admission is granted. Applicants are place on a waiting list in the order
that the application was received. An applicant will be offered a spot only after an
opening occurs, and after meeting the eligibility requirements of the school. Once all
available slots are filled, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Preference is
given to siblings of admitted students.
Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to come to school every day, on time, prepared to learn. You are
expected to conduct yourself in a responsible, business-like adult manner in and around
school grounds. Such behavior includes speaking quietly, using good manners, cleaning up
the areas of the building you use, and treating others with respect.
|
Students are expected to be in school 30 hours each week. As part of the Career Based
Intervention program, students are also expected to participate in paid employment or
a volunteer work experience for a minimum of 15 hours each week. Failure to comply with
these requirements can result in suspension and/or removal from the program.
The consequences for infractions of the following rules shall be considered the standard
penalty to be imposed for the offenses described. In incidents where extreme violations
occur, the specified actions may be waived by the school Administrator in favor of stronger
measures, such as longer suspensions, denial of bus privileges or, for up to one year,
expulsion from TechCon Institute and any other school in the State of Ohio.
Attendance
TechCon Institute will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students’
schedules will be designed around credit needs. TechCon Institute believes hat regular and
punctual attendance at school is imperative for educational success. Students are expected
to be in school each day unless ill or unable to attend due to an unavoidable reason.
The primary responsibility for school attendance rests with students and parents. Schools,
however, have the responsibility for properly recording absenteeism and tardiness, notifying
parents when needed, and discouraging excessive absences in accordance with state law. TechCon
Institute seeks the full cooperation from parents in promoting good attendance and punctuality.
